Moray Maras and Salt Mine are two unique places in Cusco. If you have the opportunity to visit it, please do so. This is a tour that takes you to the round terraces of moray eels, which the Incas used as a laboratory to adapt plants that grow in warm places so that they can grow in higher, cooler areas.
Our staff will visit you at your hotel between 8:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. and it will take you to the place where the tour starts. The first place we will visit is Moray, 38 kilometers from the city of Cusco. The moraine is considered an Inca agricultural laboratory and consists of 4 muyus or circles, which are concentrically placed circular platforms. The deepest is 80 meters and the lowest platform is 36 meters in diameter; you can also see it inside the platform. The temperature variation range of each platform is between 0.5 and 1.5 degrees Celsius, being able to reproduce up to 20 types of microclimates. Then we will visit the Maras salt mine; As the name suggests, these are salt mines made up of around 5,000 small pops, each of which produces between 50 and 80 kilograms of salt per season. These are watered by underground sources of salt water; This process is completely natural and takes about 2 months.
Maras salt is in great demand and the premium variety is Rosada (pink) mineral salt. After our adventure, we return to Cusco around 2 pm.
